chapli-kababChapli Kebab is a patty made from beef mince and is one of the popular barbecue meals in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Chapli Kebab is flat round in shape and is prepared with minced beef, green chillies, egg, fresh herbs like mint and coriander leaves and spices.

Origin Of Chapli Kebab:

The Word Chapli derives from the Pashto word Chaprikh which means flat.  The dish originates from Mardan and Mansehra regions of Pakistan.  Mardan is famous for Chapali Kebab not only locally but also internationally.

Recipe Of Chapli Kebab:

Preparation time 50 minutes
Serves 5-6 people

Ingredients:

Mince ½ kg
Butter 2 ounce
Crushed red pepper 1 tbsp
Crushed coriander seeds 1 tbsp
Crushed cumin seeds 1 tsp
Pomegranate seeds crushed 1 tbsp
Wheat flour 3 tbsp
Eggs 2
Spring onion 2 chopped
Tomato 1 sliced
Coriander leaves chopped 2 tbsp
Green chilies chopped 4
Salt 1 ½ tsp
Ghee for frying

Instruction For Cooking:

1. In a bowl mix together mince ½ kg, Butter 2 ounce,  Crushed red pepper 1 tbsp, Crushed coriander seeds 1 tbsp, Crushed cumin seeds 1 tsp, Pomegranate seeds crushed 1 tbsp,  Wheat flour 3 tbsp,  Eggs 2, Spring onion 2 chopped,  Coriander leaves chopped 2 tbsp,  Green chilies chopped 4,  Salt 1 ½ tsp mix well,  keep aside for 1 hour.

2. Make into big kebabs,  shallow fry in ghee or oil fix 1 slice tomato onto each kebab before frying.  Fry light golden.

Chapli Kebab are very scrumptious and stomach filling appetizer. They are energising too.  They are high in cholesterol but tastes delicious.

Uses Of Chapli Kebab:

Chapli Kebabs are usually served with yogurt sauce,  raita,  rice, salad or naan or also with plain chapati.  Chapli Kebab are also served in dawats at home and mostly people like it in Iftar menu and also served at Eid-ul-fitr and Eid-ul-adha festive dinners.
