Banana Cake first became a standard feature of American cookbooks with the popularization of baking soda and baking powder in the 1930’s. The Banana Cake in the United States grew popular during the Great Depression. Stores had over ripe bananas and didn’t want to loose money, so they sold them to housewives who used them to make cakes, breads and other baked goods.

Recipe Of Banana Cake:

Preparation Time 55 minutes
Serves 5-6 people

Ingredients:

For Base:

Butter 2 ounces
Brown sugar 2 ounce
Cinnamon powder 1/2 tsp
Bananas 4 sliced
Pineapple juice 1/4 cup

For Cake:

Butter 8 ounces
Flour 2 cups (8 ounces)
Caster sugar 1, 1/4 cup (10 ounces)
Eggs 4
Baking powder 2 tsp
Baking soda 1/4 tsp
Pinch of salt
Butter milk 1 cup
Bananas 3 mashed
Pineapple juice 1/4 cup
Banana essence 1 tsp
Cinnamon powder 1/2 tsp

Instruction For Cooking:

1. Place a 9 inch round cake pan on low heat. Add butter, brown sugar, cinnamon powder and pineapple juice. Stir till sugar is dissolved.

2. Now remove from flame and arrange banana slices all over the base.

3. Now take a clean dry bowl add cream, butter, sugar and beat continuously. Add egg one at a time.

4. Add essence, alternately fold in sifted flour and butter milk and pineapple juice and mix well like fold with spatula.

5. Pour batter in prepared pan and bake it for 45 minutes on 180 degree C.

Variation In Banana Cake:

Banana Cake have some variations according to your choice. You can also added raisins in this recipe and also using nuts of your own choices. You can also add chocolate chips to make it more delicious.

Uses Of Banana Cake:

Banana Cake is usually eaten with tea in breakfast and evening. It is also served in tea parties at home.  You can have it as a dessert as well.
